VPS provides a range of products and services for the financial markets that are of great benefit for private individuals as investors. Our customers are the financial businesses that operate in the financial markets in Norway, and they in turn are responsible for making our products available to private investors and providing customer service. As a private individual, you must use the services of an account operator who will manage the services you need for your investments in securities. Banks, investment firms and fund management companies are typical examples of the businesses that offer their services as account operators.

You will need to open a VPS account if you intend to own investments that are registered with VPS, such as shares, funds, equity certificates, bonds and short-term bonds (short-term interest-bearing securities in the Norwegian market known as ‘sertifikater’). A VPS account is a secure and reliable way of holding securities, and if you wish you will be able to use your account as collateral for arranging loans etc.

VPS Client Services will give you access to all the information you need on your VPS-registered securities. You can choose whether to receive messages and statements electronically or in printed format, and this includes notifications of changes to your holdings, annual statements, confirmation of payments and notifications of corporate actions. In addition, VPS will provide the Norwegian tax authorities with the information they require.
